My journey through therapy has been a winding road through 7 different therapists. Pre-COVID I was dealing with a lot of internal emotions about how to deal with day-to-day life. I had a job and everything around me, but I didn’t know how to control my anxiety and thoughts. I call it my quarterly crisis. That’s when I found a place near me called Heights Family Counseling.
I was so scared to go to another therapist because I had no idea what I was looking for. For the first time, I chose the therapist; I felt in control of who I was going to talk to. I spent a few days looking over and over different therapists until I finally landed on one. Her name is HL; I chose her cause of her knowledge in anxiety and using breathwork. Of course, her credentials in what she specializes in, which was CBT. She practiced yoga and did powerlifting, to name a few things that stood out to me when I looked for a therapist who understood me in not only my issues but also the hobbies I had.
I think that was super important to me to find someone who I connected with and understood me on most levels. After 5 years of working with her, I’m able to say I’ve learned so many tools which have helped me in my journey. If you want to see what they are, you can read these articles: My ADHD Brain.
But that’s not all! I’ve also learned a lot of things along the way, such as: My Cup of Water mantra, which you can read more about in that blog.
